To all football fans, I'm sure there is no need for further deliberation. Man Utd is once again Barclay's Premier League Champion. And I must say that this one is especially memorable compared to the previous championships.
Why? well, not because this one equals our long time rival, Liverpool's 18 premier league titles. Definitely not because they won it comfortably or decisively. It's simply because of the manner that Man Utd won this title. It's the manner of a true champion.
It's not an easy feat to defend this title 3 times in a row. But to do it against all the adversities and challenges. This is what champions do.Already I can hear the usual excuses; they were lucky, they weren't really that good etc etc.
Man Utd clawed their way from as much as 10 points behind the leader before the half way point of the season. Lost to bitter rival, Arsenal but regained their fighting spirit by winning their next dunno how many matches (so many that i've forgot = P). Lost 2 matches in a row, one of which is a 4-1 thrashing by Liverpool in front of their very own supporters, but fought back to win 7 of their next matches. Won one of those 7 matches by coming back from 2-1 down to win it in the final minute, and another one by coming back from 0-2 down to win it by 5-2. And they did all these while having Liverpool one step behind them ready to pounce.
What I'm trying to say is there's no amount of luck in the world that can help a team achieve all of the above.It's all down to pure courage and fighting spirit.And faith and belief at their own ability when everyone else doubt them.
A lot of people wonder why so many ppl support Man Utd. I dunno bout other people but I support them simply because it is truly inspiring to see them constantly proving crtitics, haters, and non-believers wrong.
To round up this post, I just wanna pay my respect to the unsung heroes of the team.
1) Wayne Rooney
A true Red Devil. Always a team player who wears his team's name before his own. Time and time again, he has played wherever and whenever the team needs him to. Constantly a threat during the offence and then running back 70 to 80 yards to help out the defence.
2) Rio Ferdinand
A more fluid and composed defender as opposed to Vidic's brutal defense but just as solid. Some may think he has been overshadowed by Vidic's super performance but I think this is due to his more laid back defending style. His leadership at the back and great anticipation of what the opposing teams are doing are some of the reasons for Man Utd's defensive record this season.
3) Park Ji Sung
He may not be the best in terms of skills and abilities but he's definitely the most reliable and hardworking player on the field. Whether he's a starter or a substitute, he'll keep running till the final minute. His strong performance at the final stretch of the season has helped the team greatly.
4) Ryan Giggs
There's no need for more introduction if you're a Man Utd fan. A veteran who's name is destined for Man Utd's Hall of Fame. Some ppl thought he should have retired last season but his inspiring effort this season just goes to show why nobody should doubt his ability to help his team. Even Fergie has yet to doubt him.Although he rarely started a match, his contributions whenever he came on for the team are some of the reasons why Fergie kept bringing him on time and time again.He definitely deserves winning his 10th BPL medal.
Belief, fighting spirit, winning mentality and, most of all, great players. These are the reasons why they are champions yet again.
